    1652 Pine Tree Shilling, VF35
    Large Planchet, Reversed N, Noe-6

1652 SHILNG Pine Tree Shilling, Large Planchet, Reversed N, VF35 PCGS. Noe 6, W-720, Salmon 5-Di, R.6. 73.1 grams. A wonderfully original collector-grade example of this scarce Large Planchet, Reversed N variety. As often seen on the variety, the 6 o'clock area is compromised by the rocker press effect, with strike softness and accentuation of reverse die flaws -- here seen with a notched planchet split precisely in that area. The surfaces are otherwise Choice for the VF level, and a case could be made for a higher numeric grade based on the unaffected portion of the flan. Listed on page 41 of the 2020 Guide Book. Population: 2 in 35, 21 finer (8/19).

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2ARX, Variety PCGS# 45372, Base PCGS# 23)
