Noe-11, No H in MASATUSETS
All Ns Retrograde
1652 SHILNG Pine Tree Shilling, Large Planchet VF25 PCGS.
Noe-11, W-760, Salmon 4-F. 67.28 gn. The Noe variety without an
H in MASATUSETS. All Ns are retrograde, entered backwards onto the
reverse die, presumably by an inexperienced Boston Mint worker. A
deep gunmetal-gray representative of the popular Guide Book
variety. The tree is sharp though the strike is uneven on the
legends. An irregular mint clip is noted at 12 o'clock and a pair
of thin marks are beneath the denomination. Struck slightly off
center toward 4 o'clock. Listed on page 39 of the 2014 Guide
