XF 1652 Pine Tree Shilling
1652 SHILNG Pine Tree Shilling, Large Planchet XF40 NGC. Noe-1,
W-690, Salmon 1-A, R.2. 66.0 gn. Pellets at trunk. A very late
die state with breaks at the 16 in the date and the N in AN DOM.
Later than any of Hain:88 to 93. The golden-gray surfaces are
unblemished and display a faint wave, as issued from a rocker
press. The sharpness of the tree and legends appears to surpass the
XF40 level. Mint-made straight clips at 3 and 9 o'clock affect only
the outer beaded circle, though the letters near 6 o'clock on each
side are partly absent due to an out-of-round flan in the vicinity.
Listed on page 39 of the 2013 Guide Book. (NGC ID# BFMC, PCGS# 23)
