    Late Dies Noe-16 Pine Tree Shilling

    1652 SHILNG Pine Tree Shilling, Small Planchet Fine 15 NGC. Noe-16, Crosby 21-L, R.2. 69.8 grains. Very late dies for Noe-2, even later than the Noe Plate VI, g coin used to demonstrate the latest known state. The die break virtually merges the lowest two left branches, although a tiny area of field remains between the branches near the trunk. All legends are clear and fully present, and the light to medium gray surfaces are problem-free. Accompanied by a collector flip with a paper insert that lists the unconfirmed provenance as "1909 Irish American/Thomas Elder/NY." Listed on page 37 of the 2006 Guide Book.
