Very Fine Small Planchet Pine Tree Shilling

1652 SHILNG Pine Tree Shilling, Small Planchet VF20 PCGS. 66.4 grains. Noe-29, R.3. An easily attributable variety as the lowest branches on both sides of the tree curve noticeably upward, and the M in MASATHVSETS is recut. This particular piece is struck off center with parts of the letters (sometimes all the letters) missing on each side. Light gray overall, the recesses are deeper in hue in the fields and around the devices. Several noticeable abrasions are seen on each side, the most obvious being located at the end of the third branch from the bottom on the left side of the tree. Listed on page 18 of the 2003 Guide Book.
