Description
1662 Oak Tree Twopence
Small 2, Noe-29, AU55
1662 2PENCE Oak Tree Twopence, Small 2, AU55 PCGS. CAC. Noe-29,
W-240, Salmon 1-A, R.6. An evenly struck representative of this
challenging Noe variety. From the same die marriage as Noe-30 but
an earlier state without the lengthy "tail" on the 2 in the date.
Noe-31 is also from this die pair but features a straight die crack
from the top of the 2 to the rim. Rich gunmetal patina is
consistent throughout aside from a few small areas of lighter
pearl-gray toning. Mint-made clips create a moderately oval
appearance, and the obverse is misaligned toward 7 o'clock, but all
legends are complete. Listed on page 41 of the 2020 Guide
