Description

XF 1662 Oak Tree Twopence
Rare Die State Large 2 Noe-33
Ex: Richard Picker Collection

1662 2PENCE Oak Tree Twopence XF40 NGC. Large 2. Crosby 1-A1, Noe-33, R.7. 10.6 gn. Extremely close to Noe-34, and cataloged as that variety in its Picker auction catalog appearance. Cataloged here as the rarer Noe-33 per its Americana Sale description, which elaborated "the line-like die crack from the rim at 9 o'clock on the reverse through the date digits is not yet complete, showing a break between the bead and 1, equivalent to the state of Ford:71, a similar quality Noe-33 that brought $13,800 [in 2005]." A problem-free full flan example with golden-brown fields and dove-gray legends and devices. Listed on page 36 of the 2009 Guide Book.
Ex: Richard Picker Collection (Stack's, 10/1984), Lot 19; Americana Sale (Stack's, 1/2007), lot 6367.
