Description
Rarely Seen Oak Tree Twopence
1662 Oak Tree Twopence VF20 Damaged Uncertified. Small 2. Breen-35. Noe-31. 11.6 grains. Uneven strike and wear, as typically found. The obverse is covered with a number of small marks, as if pressed against a group of pins. The reverse is more attractive with the date and about half the legend readable. Believed to be the only authorized issue of Massachusetts silver coins, and thus dated 1662 rather than 1652, as were all earlier or later Massachusetts silver pieces. Listed on page 17 of the 2000 Guide Book. From the Collection of Dr. Joseph M. Seventko.
