Description

    Double-Struck 1722 Hibernia Halfpenny
    Choice Extremely Fine, W-12690

1722 1/2P Hibernia Halfpenny, Type One, Harp Left XF45 NGC. Martin 4.1-Bb.1, W-12690, R.5. An impressive double-struck example with prominent doubling on both sides. The reverse die approaches its terminal state with several significant die cracks and two retained cuds. Charming chocolate-brown patina enhances both sides. The reverse is softly defined, as one would expect. A small planchet crack is noted in the lower left of the obverse. An interesting representative of this elusive variety. Listed on page 42 of the 2011 Guide Book. MRB XF45.
