1723 1/2 P Hibernia Halfpenny MS65 Red and Brown NGC. M. 4.74-Gb.11, W-13120, R.4. 11 strings, two reverse stops. The 3 in the date is broad, and the end of the frond aligns with the right edge of the N in HIBERNIA. Lustrous Red and Brown surfaces show extensive die rust (as made) and the strike is slightly soft. However, the preservation of this three-centuries-old Gem is outstanding. Originally produced for circulation in Ireland by William Wood, these halfpennies ended up being used in the American colonies. Listed on page 57 of the 2019 Guide Book.
