    Rare 1723 Hibernia Halfpenny Variety

    1723 1/2P Hibernia Halfpenny MS63 Brown PCGS. Breen-161, no stop after date, "Rare." No stop before H, Small 3 in date. This Breen variety was not represented in the recent Ford auction. Same dies as Garrett:1272, but that piece graded only Fine. A crisply struck and shimmering light olive-brown example with occasional orange tints on the devices. A few nearly imperceptible slide marks cross the bust truncation. Listed on page 43 of the 2006 Guide Book.
