    Description

    1723 Hibernia Farthing, Martin 3.2-Bc.10, SP64
    Important Silver Impression

1723 FARTH Hibernia Farthing, Silver SP64 PCGS Secure. CAC. W-12500, Martin 3.2-Bc.10, R.5 in Silver. This middle die state has minor chipping around the obverse letters. William Wood was the mastermind behind the Hibernia coinage that was produced in Ireland. He received a franchise to produce coins for Ireland on June 16, 1722, and already had a coinage contract for Rosa Americana coinage. Both types circulated in the colonies, although the Hibernia pieces were not intended for the colonies. This brilliant silver example has splashes of gold and iridescent toning with mirrored fields and excellent surfaces. Listed on page 44 of the 2015 Guide Book. (NGC ID# 2AT7, PCGS# 179)
