1724 Hibernia Halfpenny, MS64 Red
Only Red Example at NGC
Martin 4.51-K.4

1724 1/2P Hibernia Halfpenny MS64 Red NGC. M. 4.51-K.4, W-13690, R.2. Since the 1724 Hibernia halfpenny is 290 years old, it is little surprise that full Red examples are nearly unobtainable. As of (3/14), PCGS lists just two such pieces in all grades, and the present near-Gem is the first certified as Red by NGC. Peach-red dominates the fields. The device high points are steel-gray, and three dashes of gunmetal toning are noted along the right reverse margin. Nicely struck and devoid of abrasions. Listed on page 45 of the 2014 Guide Book.
From The Old New England Collection.
