1738-P SOU M French Colonies Sou Marque, Vlack-161a, R.5, AU58
PCGS. CAC. This is the Dijon Mint variety without a stop before
SIT. A collector who seeks a new challenging series might consider
the French Colonies Sou Marque series that includes pieces struck
at 30 different French mints from 1738 to 1764. According to the
Vlack reference, the set consists of close to 300 coins. The
present piece would be a great place to start as it is a lovely and
lustrous near-Mint example with original pewter-gray surfaces and
excellent eye appeal. Listed on page 55 of the 2018 Guide
