    1739-A French Colonies Half Sou Marque, Vlack-294, VF25 NGC. The lengthy series of half sou marque and sou marque coins began in 1738 and continued through 1764. Robert A. Vlack identifies pieces that were struck at 29 different mints around France including the Paris Mint, with its "A" mintmark seen on the present coin. This steel-gray example has an area of iron-gray toning with areas of light gray on both sides. Listed on page 55 of the 2021 Guide Book.
