Lovely Choice 1740-BB Half Sou Marque
1740-BB 1/2 SOU M French Colonies Half Sou Marque MS64 PCGS. Breen-690, "Very Scarce." The BB mintmark is associated with Strasbourg. While the Sou Marque is not rare as a French Colonies type, the Half Sou Marque is decidedly tougher to find. Most survivors are in low grades, and have patchy or absent silver wash, which is unbroken on the present near-Gem. A well and struck and beautiful piece, slightly wavy as made.
