    Description

1758-A Sou M French Colonies Sou Marque XF45 PCGS. Breen-417. "Extremely Rare" according to Breen (though it should be noted that there is no reliable authority on the rarity of French colonies pieces). The coin was triple struck with a slight rotation between strikes, and quite unusual as such. There are dramatic "shadows" around the letters which are actually details remaining from the first two strikes. The medium gray surfaces brighten and lighten considerably around the devices to a silvery-gray. Listed on page 31 of the 2000 Guide Book.
    From the David Bruce Collection.
