Breen Plate Coin
1760 1/2 P Hibernia-Voce Populi Halfpenny, No P, MS63 Brown NGC.
N. 8, Z. 3-C, W-1382X, R.6. Designated on the NGC insert as the
"Breen Plate" coin, and indeed it is a match for the photo pair
beneath Breen-222 in his 1988 Encyclopedia. A beautiful
golden-brown example with refreshingly undisturbed surfaces. The
major devices are not fully struck, as is the rule for the type.
The reverse die is aligned a few degrees off center toward 12
o'clock, and a few letters in HIBERNIA are partially off the flan.
