Glossy Brown MS64 Voce Populi Halfpenny

1760 1/2P Hibernia-Voce Populi Halfpenny MS64 Brown PCGS. Breen-223. Nelson-Vlack 9. While the HIBERNIA legend would indicate that these coppers were intended for circulation in Ireland, large quantities were shipped to America by speculators in Dublin. Voce Populi pieces circulated throughout the colonies and most likely for several years after the Peace of Paris was signed in 1783. This is a splendid example. Rarely are VOCE's found in Uncirculated grades and this is an especially fine piece with smooth, even, glossy brown surfaces. The devices are outlined in a darker hue and the recesses of the devices also display this deeper coloration. A bit weakly struck over the highpoints, as always, there are really no mentionable abrasions on either side of this lovely Colonial copper. Listed on page 29 of the 2003 Guide Book. (#262)
