1766 1/2 P Pitt Halfpenny VF35 PCGS. Betts-519, Breen-251, W-8350, R.3. The "Great Commoner," William Pitt the Elder, steered legislation through Parliament that ended the Stamp Act, despised by traders on both sides of the Atlantic. He is honored on this halfpenny variety, which has smooth olive-brown surfaces and moderate wear on the cheek of Pitt. Slightly off-center toward 3 o'clock. Listed on page 52 of the 2017 Guide Book.
