1766 1/2P Pitt Halfpenny AU58 PCGS. CAC. Betts-519, W-8350, R.3. A bold and glossy chocolate-brown example of this famous late Colonial-era medal. High points, such as the sails, display a hint of wear. Several faint thin field marks are distributed. William Pitt the Elder is honored for his repeal of the hated Stamp Act, but it is unknown which side of the Atlantic authorized the medal. Listed on page 50 of the 2014 Guide Book. Population: 5 in 58, 7 finer (8/13).
