Description

1767-A 9DEN French Colonies Copper Sou AU58 PCGS. CAC. Breen-700. No RF counterstamp. The 1767 copper sous primarily circulated in Louisiana and in the Caribbean. Those lacking the RF counterstamp are especially difficult to locate in any grade. Attractive medium brown surfaces with only slight high point wear, this piece is somewhat finer than Ford XIII, lot 27 that was called "far nicer than the vast majority of these known," although clearly lower quality than the "Choice Brilliant Proof" of lot 26 in that sale. Listed on page 55 of the 2020 Guide Book.
Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2006), lot 11, which realized $1,265; FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2008), lot 7012, which realized $1,725; Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2008), lot 28, which realized $1,265; Los Angeles Signature (Heritage, 8/2009), lot 7006, which realized $1,495.
