    1773 Virginia Halfpenny, MS65 Brown
    N. 5-Z, No Period

1773 1/2P Virginia Halfpenny, No Period, N. 5-Z, W-1600, R.4, MS65 Brown PCGS. The Newman 5-Z die variety is scarce overall, but becomes rare in high grade. This Gem Brown example is among the finer-known. A bold, even strike renders the devices sharp, while the surfaces are free of environmental impairments. The color is largely medium auburn-brown, although hints of coppery-red remain in the protected areas around the obverse periphery and throughout the reverse. Listed on page 45 of the 2016 Guide Book. Population (all varieties included): 11 in 65 (1 in 65+) Brown, 7 finer (7/15).
