    Description

(1778-1779) Rhode Island Ship Token, MS62 Brown
    Betts-563, Wonderful Eye Appeal

1778-1779 TOKEN Rhode Island Ship Token, Wreath Below, Copper MS62 Brown PCGS. CAC. Betts-563, W-1740, R.4. The history of the Rhode Island ship medals is not known, including which country they were struck in and their intended message, with some believing they were one of many political and satirical medals struck by the Dutch. In any event, surviving examples are extremely popular and this is a particularly appealing specimen. Hues of brown and gold are present on this piece exhibiting a pleasing strike. The few marks present are minor in nature. Listed on page 50 of the 2014 Guide Book.
