Description

"1781" TOKEN North American Token AU55 PCGS. Breen-1144. The lack of sharpness on the obverse is a property of the die, not the result of wear. Probably struck in the 1810s in Dublin and imported to alleviate a shortage of small change in North America. Some dark, smooth corrosion is seen amid the obverse legend, but this is a generally attractive specimen of a token that is usually found quite worn. Listed on page 53 of the 2001 Guide Book.
From the Collection of Dr. Joseph M. Seventko.
