Splendid PR67 Brown Restrike 1783
Washington & Independence Cent
Draped Bust, No Button, Baker-3C
1783 1C Washington & Independence Cent, Draped Bust, No Button,
Copper Restrike, Plain Edge PR67 Brown PCGS. Plain Edge,
Baker-3C, W-10310, High R.6. The Soho Mint of Birmingham, England,
closed in 1848, and W.J. Taylor used four pairs of dies from that
facility to produce these restrike Washington coppers. This is a
simply splendid, glossy milk-chocolate Superb Gem proof example of
the Taylor restrike, the Large Denticles variety with drapery fold
present over the 7 in the date, ending at the extreme right edge of
the upright of 1. Listed on page 76 of the 2010 Guide Book.
Population: two in 67 Brown, none finer in any color designation
