    Description

1783 1C Washington & Independence Cent, Large Military Bust AU58 PCGS. Baker-4. Breen-1203. A nice dark brown example, a minor nick on the cheek of the face of Washington being the only thing that keeps this piece from the choice category. This Washington variety is interesting because the bust is not that of Washington. The punch used to make the obverse die was actually a reuse of the one used for the Canadian Duke of Wellington tokens. Listed on page 58 of the 2003 Guide Book.(#667)
