    Important 1783 Chalmers Shilling
    Short Worm, Breen-1011, W-1785

1783 SHLNG Chalmers Shilling, Short Worm Genuine PCGS. Breen-1011, W-1785, High R.5. The PCGS number ending in .98 suggests Damage as the reason, or perhaps one of the reasons, that PCGS deemed this coin not gradable. In our opinion, this piece has the details of an XF specimen that has environmental damage and has been cleaned. The pearl-gray centers have the pallor of cleaning, while the outer zones are darker sage, an indication of environmental damage. This coin does have excellent remaining detail, however, and as a representative of this rare die pair, it is sure to be pursued by colonial enthusiasts. Listed on page 49 of the 2011 Guide Book. MRB VF30.
