Description
1785 Nova Constellatio Copper, XF40
Elusive Crosby 2-A Small Date, Pointed Rays
1785 C NOVA Nova Constellatio Copper, Pointed Rays, Small Date,
Large U.S., Crosby 2-A, W-1885, High R.4, XF40 PCGS. The Crosby
2-A is a challenging die marriage that receives a separate Guide
Book listing for its Small Date and Pointed Rays design. The
usually encountered 1785 variety is Crosby 3-B, which features the
Large Date and Large U.Ss design elements to go with the Pointed
Rays motif. This deep-brown C 2-A example is evenly struck and only
mildly granular, with no relevant abrasions. As such, it offers an
enticing opportunity for the alert specialist. Listed on page 24 of
the 2026 Guide Book. PCGS Population: 6 in 40, 5 finer
(3/26).Ex: ANA Signature (Heritage, 7/2005), lot 5053.
