Lightly Circulated 1785 Nova Constellatio Copper

1785 Nova Constellatio Copper AU 50 PCGS. Pointed Rays. Breen-1111, Crosby 3-B. Although somewhat dark, this is an important example of this scarce Colonial issue that was struck in Birmingham, England circa 1785. Predominantly smooth, the surfaces betray light roughness on the left side of the reverse design. With the exception of this area, the features are boldly impressed and evidence crisp details despite light wear across the highpoints. This is a coin that the specialist will certainly appreciate. Listed on page 34 of the 1999 Guide Book.
