    1785 Miller 3.2-L Connecticut Copper, AU55
    Condition Census
    Dr. Hall's Edge Ink

1785 CONNCT Connecticut, Mailed Bust Right, M. 3.2-L, W-2330, R.4, AU55 NGC. 137.7 grains. Dr. Thomas Hall's white edge ink is visible on this important Condition Census specimen that is one of the finest known to us. Trivial planchet porosity is evident on this glossy light olive and golden-tan copper that shows faint traces of original red mint color. A late die state with faded clash marks evident at the upper reverse. This example is far finer than Ford's two Very Fine coins, and it is finer than the VG Norweb example, the VF Taylor coin, and the XF in the Garrett Collection. Obverse 3.2 makes no other appearances in the Connecticut series, and reverse L also appears on Miller 3.1-L. This is an extraordinary opportunity, making its first appearance in nearly three decades. Listed on page 63 of the 2020 Guide Book.
Ex: Dr. Thomas Hall; Virgil Brand; Herbert Oechsner Collection (Stack's, 9/1988), lot 1022; Jon Hanson (9/9/1988); Donald G. Partrick.
