Ford's M. 6.3-G.1 1785 Connecticut Copper
1785 COPPER Connecticut Copper, Bust Right XF45 NGC. M. 6.3-G.1,
W-2400, R.3. In its appearance within the Ford auctions, the
present chocolate-brown copper was described as "a much nicer
example than almost all others seen, a match for the Perkins coin
in terms of wear but without as much of that coin's porosity [sic].
132.5 gn. ... Struck from the late state of the [reverse] die, the
piece severely broken around the rim from about 9:30 to 2 o'clock,
creating the impression of waves." The centers retain the
moderately rough texture of the planchet prior to the strike.
Listed on page 59 of the 2011 Guide Book. Population: 4 in
45, 4 finer (8/10).
