1785 Nova Constellatio Copper, Pointed Rays, Large Date, Crosby 3-B, W-1895, R.2, MS62 Brown NGC. Ex: Garrett. 108.2 grains, per its Garrett catalog appearance. The often-seen late die state with die crumbling on the rays and NOVA, and a die break on the wreath above the date. Golden-brown surfaces alternate with deeper brown. A single diagonal line near 3:30 on the date side. Possibly the first auction appearance of the present lot since the Garrett sale more than 45 years ago. Listed on page 52 of the 2025 Guide Book. Census: 5 in 62 Brown, 3 finer (1/25).
