    1786 COPPER Vermont Copper, VERMONTENSIUM XF45 PCGS. RR-6, Bressett 4-D, W-2020, R.2. A mahogany-brown example with attractive, unabraded surfaces. Struck somewhat off center toward 8 o'clock, favoring the rising sun but causing a softer strike near 9 o'clock on the obverse and 3 o'clock on the reverse. Vermont was an independent republic in 1786. It joined the United States in 1791, living up to the reverse motto on the present coin, which translates from Latin as Fourteenth Star. Listed on page 68 of the 2012 Guide Book. Population: 18 in 45, 20 finer (11/11).
