Ryder 4-C, W-5940
1787 1/2 C Massachusetts Half Cent, R. 4-C, W-5940, R.2, MS64
Brown PCGS. This lot displays beautiful oak-brown luster with
appreciable maroon and ebony tones on both sides. Just three other
varieties would use Ryder 4-C's obverse and this is the sole
marriage of its reverse, which demonstrates minimal strike softness
along the lettering of the eagle's crest. At MS64 Brown, there are
only 31 examples (five pieces at MS64+), with only 13 coins
numerically finer (2/26). Housed in a Generation 3.1 green label
holder.Coin Index Numbers: (Variety PCGS# 688343, Base PCGS# 296)
