    Select Mint State Fugio Cent
    N. 8-X, Pointed Rays
    Struck Off Center

1787 1C Fugio Cent, STATES UNITED, 4 Cinquefoils, Pointed Rays MS63 Brown NGC. N. 8-X, W-6750, R.3. Most Uncirculated examples of Newman's "X" reverse were initially part of Bank of New York hoard. N. 8-X is, however, scarcer than N. 13-X, likely because the obverse die failed near 6 o'clock relatively early in its life. The present Fugio copper is golden-brown with steel-blue high points. Lustrous, sharply struck, and from an unusually problem-free planchet. Struck several degrees off center toward 11 o'clock. Listed on page 83 of the 2012 Guide Book.
