    Description

Splendid Mint State 1787 Fugio Cent

1787 1C Fugio Cent, STATES UNITED, Cinquefoils MS63 Brown PCGS. 1787 1C Fugio Cent, STATES UNITED, Cinquefoils MS63 Brown. PCGS. Newman 13-X, R.3. A foremost rarity in this grade and worthy of the finest collection. The surfaces are well preserved with minimal signs of handling. We note a small laminated area on the rim above GI of FUGIO, and some minor dark streaks on each side. As often seen, the obverse die is badly clashed with sections of the reverse chain clearly visible in the fields. There are no troubling spots or similar detriments to distract the eye. In fact, traces of original mint red can be found in the most protected areas of the obverse. We suspect that this one will end up in a specialist's collection where it will no doubt be one of the highlights of an advanced cabinet. NGC and PCGS have graded a combined 3 pieces this high, with neither service seeing any finer.
