    1787 CENT Massachusetts Cent, Horned Eagle, MS63+ Brown PCGS. Ryder 2b-A, W-6040, R.3. The "Horned Eagle" is among the best known Massachusetts copper varieties. The "horn" is a blade-shaped die break above the eagle's forehead. The present walnut-brown representative is unabraded aside from minor contact near the N in CENT, which may have been on the planchet prior to the strike. No spots, laminations, or other deficiencies are apparent. Population: 1 in 63 (1 in 63+) Brown, 2 finer (1/17). Listed on page 61 of the 2017 Guide Book.
