    1787 Miller 33.12-Z.16 Connecticut Copper, MS61 Brown
    Hall-Hessberg Pedigree

    1787 Connecticut, Draped Bust Left, M. 33.12-Z.16, W-3535, R.5, MS61 Brown NGC. 128.0 grains. Obverse die 33.12 is known with reverse dies W.3, Z.10, Z.16, Z.21, and Z.24. Reverse die Z.16 is known with obverse dies 33.12, 33.27, and 33.28. Robert Martin called the Hall-Hessberg example "1 of 2 finest" for the variety, tied with the Stepney Hoard/EAC '75 example. Medium brown surfaces are glossy and attractive with steel accents. The obverse is slightly sharper than the reverse, and a couple of planchet flaws are noted through Liberty's head. A die crack travels through AUCT. The lower half of 1 87 is off the flan. Otherwise, it is nicely centered. Listed on page 66 of the 2021 Guide Book.
