1787 Miller 33.12-Z.21 Connecticut Copper, VG Details
    The First We Have Offered

1787 Connecticut, Draped Bust Left, M. 33.12-Z.21, W-3540, High R.6--Corrosion--NGC Details. VG. 124.6 grains. Obverse die 33.12 is known with reverse dies W.3, Z.10, Z.16, Z.21, and Z.24. Reverse die Z.21 is known with obverse dies 33.2, 33.12, and 33.46. The High R.6 Miller 33.12-Z.21 variety was missing from the Norweb, Oechsner, and Newman collections. The Partrick coin is corroded, but the reverse maintains a bold outline of Liberty and strong legends, including the date. The obverse is not quite as well defined. Both sides are deep brown with gold and violet accents. According to our Permanent Auction Archives, which date back to 1993, this is the first time we have offered an example of this rare die marriage. Listed on page 66 of the 2021 Guide Book.
Ex: Robert Vlack (3/19/1984); George Perkins Collection (Stack's, 1/2000), lot 370; Jon Hanson (1/12/2000); Donald G. Partrick.
