    Description

    1787 Connecticut Copper, VF35
    Miller Reverse s.2 Brockage

1787 Connecticut, M.-s.2, W-3490, R.2--Reverse Brockage--VF35 NGC. 122.2 grains. This brockage was caused by an unejected coin sticking to the top die, striking a blank, and causing mirror-image impression where the obverse design should be. The reverse features a normal impression. Tan-gold surfaces exhibit a couple of planchet voids on each side and moderate roughness throughout. The M. 33.9 obverse die was almost certainly in the press at the time this piece was struck. It is the only known obverse paired with this reverse. Listed on page 66 of the 2021 Guide Book.
Ex: Stack's (6/1995), lot 65; Anthony Terranova and Jon Hanson (6/17/1995); Donald G. Partrick.
