    1787 Miller 3-G.1 Connecticut Copper, VF30
    Ex: Boyd-Taylor-Perkins

1787 Connecticut, Mailed Bust Left, M. 3-G.1, W-2805, R.6, VF30 NGC. 89.7 grains per the Taylor catalog; 135.9 grains per the Perkins catalog. Obverse 3 is known only with reverse die G.1. Reverse die G.1 is found with obverse dies 3 and 52. Miller identified a single reverse die G, and following his nomenclature, this piece was identified as 3-G in the New Netherlands sale and in the Taylor catalog. Reverse G.2 was discovered in 1964 and described in detail in the April 1968 issue of The Colonial Newsletter. It was at that time that the original reverse G became known as reverse G.1. The present piece appears to rank among the top half dozen examples known of the variety. Both sides of this dark brown copper show light granularity with further flaws in the left obverse field. Light tan appears on the devices providing a pleasing two-tone appearance. Listed on page 65 of the 2021 Guide Book.
