Description

    1787 Connecticut Copper, Miller 39.1-h.1

1787 COPPER Connecticut Copper, AUCTOBI VG Details, Corroded, NCS. M. 39.1-h.1, R.5. Steel-blue in color, the surfaces are grainy when viewed beneath a loupe. The legends are bold, however, and the reverse has fully outlined devices. A well centered piece with a minor rim nick at 5 o'clock and a short scratch to the I in ETLIB. The R punch was apparently misplaced when the obverse die was created, the makers little aware of how avidly the blunder would be coveted two centuries later. Listed on page 60 of the 2006 Guide Book.
