    1787 Connecticut Copper, Choice AU
    Draped Bust Left, ETLIR Blunder
    Scarce Miller 33.17-gg.2

1787 COPPER Connecticut Copper, ETLIR AU55 NGC. M. 33.17-gg.2, W-3635, R.5. Mahogany-brown fields accompany steel-gray motifs. The glossy surfaces are free from apparent abrasions. Struck a few degrees off center toward 2 o'clock with complete legends except for the base of the date. The dies were out of alignment, causing a sharp strike on the lower obverse and upper reverse, but a soft impression on the upper obverse and lower reverse. Lengthy, spindly die cracks are noted near the head of the seated Liberty, and from 3:30 to 5:30 along the reverse rim. Two cracks intersect beneath the bust truncation. Listed on page 62 of the 2014 Guide Book.
From The Old New England Collection.
