    1787 Miller 43.1-Y Connecticut Copper, MS62 Brown
    Double Struck 40% Off-Center

1787 COPPER Connecticut, Draped Bust Left, CONNFC, M. 43.1-Y, W-4250, R.2--Double Struck--MS62 Brown NGC. 146.2 grains. This impressive Miller 43.1-Y is dramatically double struck 40% off-center with the lower half of a second impression over the upper half of the reverse, resulting in two strong dates. The rest of the coin is similarly bold. Reddish-brown and golden-olive tones color hard, lustrous surfaces. Minor roughness occurs over the globe, and a few streaks appear southwest of the effigy's chin. By its technical grade alone, this piece qualifies for the middle part of the Condition Census. Listed on page 66 of the 2021 Guide Book.
Ex: Herbert Oechsner Collection (Stack's, 9/1988), lot 1173; Jon Hanson (9/9/1988); Donald G. Partrick.
