1787 Miller 33.36-T.2 Connecticut Copper, MS62 Brown
Ex: Hall/Brand/Hessberg
1787 COPPER Connecticut, Draped Bust Left, M. 33.36-T.2, W-3900,
R.1, MS62 Brown NGC. 129.0 grains. Obverse die 33.36 is known
with reverse dies T.1, T.2, T.3, and SS. Reverse die T.2 is known
with obverse dies 33.5, 33.16, and 33.36. Only a slight bulge is
seen in the left obverse field, a relatively early die state for
this available die marriage. In Uncirculated condition such as this
coin, the 33.36-T.2 is rare. Faded mint red undertones exist on
both sides, with numerous reverse die breaks. Ted Craige studied
the 36.33 die marriages extensively, and believed the striking
order was 36.33-T-3, 36.33-T-1, 36.33-T-2. Many late die state T-2
coins seem to confirm that sequence. This example is tied atop the
Condition Census with the Archangel Collection coin. The "Skeleton
Hand" is especially sharp and well-detailed on this boldly struck
and attractive Donald G. Partrick example. Listed on page 66 of the
2021 Guide Book.Ex: Dr. Thomas Hall; Virgil Brand; later, Edward Hessberg Collection (Stack's, 6/1991), lot 1493; Jon Hanson (6/20/1991); Donald G. Partrick.
