    1787 Nova Eborac Copper, W-5765
    Very Rare Small Head Variety
    XF Sharpness

1787 COPPER Nova Eborac Copper, Small Head -- Environmental Damage -- PCGS Genuine. XF Details. Breen-988, W-5765, High R.6. The Small Head variety is rarest among the four Nova Eborac varieties. Hodder noted only ten examples in the May 2004 Ford auction. The variety has a primitive appearance, reminiscent of the contemporary counterfeit Connecticut coppers that circulated about the same time. This example exhibits evenly granular mahogany-brown and sea-green surfaces. The legends are generally sharp, though the portrait displays wear consistent with the XF level. A small edge flaw at 8:30 provides an identifier. Listed on page 70 of the 2020 Guide Book.
Ex: Richard Picker; Ted L. Craige Collection; Baltimore Sale (Stack's, 3/2013), lot 319, which realized $15,275.
