1788 Connecticut Copper, Choice AU
Mailed Bust Left, M. 12.1-E
Ex: Ryder-Boyd-Ford
1788 Connecticut Copper, Mailed Bust Left, M. 12.1-E, W-4515,
R.5, AU55 PCGS. Ex: Ryder-Boyd-Ford. 117.2 grains. This
exceptional Mailed Bust Left Connecticut copper is likely the
finest known from this set of dies, and it boasts a pedigree dating
back more than 100 years. Reddish and steel accents complement
light brown and golden-olive surfaces. Strong detail appears on the
legends and central devices, which are well-centered on the flan.
Generally smooth with minimal granularity and just a couple of thin
planchet flaws in the left and right obverse fields. Listed on page
