Mint State 1788 Connecticut Draped Bust Left Copper

1788 COPPER Connecticut Copper, Draped Bust Left MS62 Brown NGC. M. 16.1-D, R.3. 126.2 grains. A sharply struck representative with medium brown patina and minutely granular surfaces. There are no detectable abrasions, although a rim flaw is noted on the reverse at 1 o'clock and the strike is a few degrees off center toward 5 o'clock. The reverse exhibits heavy die breaks (as made) near 7 and 10 o'clock. The Perkins catalog declared that this piece was the "Second Finest Seen," which comes as no surprise given the exemplary quality of the Perkins collection.
