    Description

    1788 Connecticut Copper, VF35
    Late Die State Miller 16.1-D

1788 COPPER Connecticut Copper, Draped Bust Left VF35 NGC. M. 16.1-D, W-4595, R.3. 123.5 grains. This remarkable olive-brown example has a few splashes of maroon patina on each side. The surfaces are smooth with no planchet flaws or post-production blemishes, aside from typical handling marks. An exceptional late die state example with the crumbling and die crack at LIB, also showing a heavy break covering most of the E in ET, and an even larger break at the lower left reverse, appearing much like a cast on Liberty's broken left leg.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
